Mrs. Ahern's 2nd grade classroom sent letters to some Air Force soldiers who were stationed overseas around Christmas time. One of the soldiers who received the letters is the dad of Mason Peterson, a student in Mrs. Ahern's room. Branden Peterson TSgt, USAF was stationed in the Middle East until he recently returned home in January. The unit was greatly touched by the students' letters and wanted to send something back as a Thank You. The classroom received a Certificate of Appreciation and a special coin from the 332nd Exp Security Forces Squadron. Copies of the certificate were printed out for each of the students, and they were fortunate enough to have Mr. Peterson come in for questions and a photo after he returned from his deployment.
