Office of Food Services
Wayne Highlands School District uses a Point of Sale System, or POS debit account for meal purchases with great success.
Primero Edge is our new vendor for this system.
There are several major benefits of this POS System:
- NO MORE TICKETS REQUIRED! No more lost, misplaced or forgotten tickets. Meals are counted accurately and automatically for state reimbursement reports.
- Students will have more time to enjoy their lunch since this system streamlines meal counting.Students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program cannot be identified which may help boost school meal participation and federal / state reimbursements.
- Parents can monitor their child’s account and deposit funds when needed. Visit https://www.schoolcafe.com
WHAT DO PARENTS NEED TO DO?
Send money (cash or check payable to “WHSD Food Service”) for your child’s meals. Your money will be put on a food service account linked to your child’s name and school ID number. NO tickets will be distributed or required. Your student’s ID needs to be on your check. Parents are encouraged to deposit money either weekly or monthly into their child’s food service account for the purchase of meals (breakfast and/or lunch ) or a la carte items such as milk, water or extra entrees. Daily sales will still be ok, but this will slow up the serving line and cuts into your student’s lunch period.
WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED TO DO?
- Memorize their student ID number.
- Individual student accounts will be set up with the student’s identification number and photo for security.
- Students will input their ID NUMBER accessing their lunch account with a PINPAD at the end of the serving line.
WHAT IF MY STUDENT IS ELIGIBLE FOR FREE OR REDUCED MEALS?
ALL STUDENTS WILL HAVE AN ACCOUNT.
Each student will have to identify him/herself with their student ID at the PINPAD for the meal to be counted.
FREE eligible students will have NO money debited from their account for school meals.
Money for REDUCED ($.40) or FULL PRICED ($2.60 or $2.85) meals will be debited according to a student’s eligibility
CAN I PAY ONLINE?
Yes Visit https://www.schoolcafe.com See below this letter for more information on that option.
CAN I MONITOR MY CHILD’S ACCOUNT?
Yes, Visit https://www.schoolcafe.com. Parents will need to set up an account with a user name and password. Then they can access their student’s account with their student’s ID. Parents can even set up EMAIL ALERTS when account balances are low. This feature can be used even if you NEVER pay online.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD HAS A LOW BALANCE?
When a student owes money for (5) five or more school food program meals, they may be given a balance notice and envelope to take home as a reminder that their account is low. The school may also call when your account is depleted. No student (K-12) will be denied a lunch. For more information, please review our School Board Policy No. 808.
WE URGE YOU TO PREVENT YOUR STUDENTS’ ACCOUNT FROM BEING DEPLETED BY CHECKING THEIR ACCOUNTS / SETTING UP EMAIL ALERTS
